Sensible cross-flow heat exchangers

Sensible cross-flow heat exchangers by ZERN ENGINEERING (Hp-EX4 series) are compact plate cores for temperature-only recovery. The Hp-EX4 series uses stacked polystyrene plates to deliver high sensible effectiveness with low pressure drop - ideal for decentralized units and compact AHU modules where humidity transfer is not required.

Principle of operations

Two sealed airstreams pass perpendicularly (90°) through separate PS plate channels. Heat crosses the thin walls without air or moisture mixing, providing stable, effective recovery and preventing odor or particle carryover.

Core material

High-quality thermoformed polystyrene plates stacked into fully isolated channels; corrosion-free, hygienic, and washable.

Casing materials

Polystyrene (HIPS) - lightweight, insulated; ideal for compact residential units.

  • Dimensions A and B are fixed. Dimension C is the width of the heat exchanger and can be varied.
  • Each heat exchanger model can be manufactured with a depth (dimension C) ranging from 100 mm to 800 mm per unit.
  • Heat exchangers with a width of 800 mm and above are supplied as two or more units.
