Enthalpy counter-flow heat exchangers

Introducing a Range of Enthalpy Plate Heat Exchangers from ZERN ENGINEERING!

Clean and balanced air is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. Indoor air quality isn’t just about cleanliness; it’s also about maintaining the correct humidity levels. With increasing legal requirements, building codes, and rising costs, expectations of modern buildings and their heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems have soared. In this era of increased demands, it is essential to find solutions that meet current and future challenges.

Enthalpy heat exchangers have proven to be a reliable solution to ventilation problems, ensuring a comfortable indoor environment.

Enthalpy heat exchangers are unique in their ability to transfer both heat and moisture without transferring gases and volatile elements from extract to supply air. Their job is to humidify or dehumidify the indoor air according to seasonal needs, such as winter or summer. This is achieved by means of a special polymer membrane that is also resistant to microorganisms.

At ZERN ENGINEERING, we offer a wide range of enthalpy heat exchangers to meet different customer needs.

EC Series – a range of counter-flow enthalpy heat exchangers designed specifically for balanced air handling systems. With their high heat recovery coefficient, ability to maintain optimum humidity levels, and efficient air purification, these exchangers have become indispensable in both residential and commercial buildings.

Sensible counter-flow heat exchangers

Introducing the ZERN ENGINEERING range of sensible plate counter-flow heat exchangers!

Responding to the ever-increasing demand for energy-efficient ventilation equipment, ZERN ENGINEERING proudly presents its diverse range of sensible plate counter-flow heat exchangers.

Our Mission: Solving energy efficiency challenges

As the market demands ever higher levels of performance, ZERN ENGINEERING has found its purpose in taking on this crucial challenge.

Explore the comprehensive range

1️⃣ HU Series: these high-efficiency polystyrene counter-flow heat exchangers maximize the efficiency of your air handling unit (AHU) and ensure top performance.

2️⃣ HC Series: these polystyrene counter-flow heat exchangers strike the right balance between efficiency and pressure drop, making them ideal for a well-balanced ventilation system with less stringent requirements for energy consumption.

3️⃣ HD Series: our latest addition to the range, is designed to provide the lowest pressure drop in a well-balanced ventilation system. Ideal for AHUs with stringent energy efficiency requirements.

4️⃣ Combi Series: designed specifically for high airflow ventilation systems, the Combi Series of polystyrene counter-flow heat exchangers stands out. The main feature of Combi is the monobloc flow direction principle and consequently the efficiency, thanks to the use of two heat exchangers combined in a single casing.

Plate heat exchangers

In the previous post, we discussed the types of heat exchangers that are used in today’s air handling units (AHUs).

Now let’s look at the purpose, design, and different types of plate heat exchangers.

The purpose of a plate heat exchanger is to recover heat from the exhaust air stream, thereby reducing the energy consumption for the heating of the supply air stream.

A plate heat exchanger is a set of plates with a special profile, arranged at a certain distance from each other and enclosed in a casing. This configuration allows the creation of a heat transfer matrix with a parallel arrangement of channels, ensuring efficient energy exchange between two airflows.

Main types of plate heat exchangers:

1️⃣ by flow direction:

  • counter-flow;
  • cross-flow.

2️⃣ by the type of energy transfer:

  • sensible – with the transfer of sensible energy of dry air;
  • enthalpy – with the transfer of sensible energy of dry air + with the transfer of latent energy of water vapor.

In the following posts, we will introduce you to the range of plate heat exchangers from ZERN ENGINEERING.
